Editor-in-Chief, Harts Vu Magazine
Some stories begin in places we never expect.
Mine begins with love, loss, friendship, and a virtual world that quietly became part of my real one.
In 2021, my life changed forever when I lost my real-life husband of 33 years. Anyone who has experienced that kind of loss understands that it reshapes your world in ways you never imagined. In the middle of that grief, I found myself returning to a place that had once brought me joy — IMVU.
But this time, it meant something different. IMVU was no longer just a game. It became a space where I could breathe again, laugh again, and reconnect with people who had been part of my journey for years. One of those people was Dr. Jay Hart.
Dr. Jay and I had actually known each other on IMVU since 2014. Over the years we remained friends, even when life pulled us in different directions. Sometimes we talked often, sometimes less, but the connection was always there.
A real friendship. When I returned in 2021, that friendship was still standing. And sometimes life has a way of bringing people back together exactly when they need it most. By 2022, our friendship had grown into something deeper, and we made the decision to begin dating in real life. What started years earlier inside a virtual world slowly became something real, steady, and meaningful.
Then, in March of 2024, we made it official in the VU world and became husband and wife.
Life has a funny way of writing love stories we never planned. What makes this journey special to me is that it shows how real the connections in IMVU can be. Behind every avatar is a real person, a real heart, and sometimes even a real future. My sister here on VU, MzShiNovi (formerly known as MzSlimZexy), has also been part of this incredible ride. Through laughter, ups and downs, and plenty of unforgettable moments, we began talking about creating something that could bring people together again. That dream became The Harts Vu Magazine. This magazine isn’t just about pictures or profiles.
It’s about community.
It’s about remembering what made IMVU special in the first place — the friendships, the creativity, the music, the clubs, the fashion, and the relationships that grew here.
With Harts Vu Magazine, I want to:
• Celebrate couples who made it through the ups and downs
• Highlight DJs, creators, and trendsetters
• Share stories from the community
• Honor the people we’ve lost along the way
• And remind everyone that positivity still has a place here
Because behind every username is a story worth telling.
